This is my Americana Quilt, wich I finished a while ago.. well the top is finished. I also have the backing fabric, not cut yet.The last time I quilt with my "normal" sewing machine I almost broke my back, my hands and my sewing machine. It's just not build for this kind of work, and the outcome is not really good most of the times either. Lots of wrinkels and there is no way to make a nice quiltpattern on it.
so I do have two options. Either I do handquilting or I give the Quilt to a Quilting service. Well the handquilting is not really an option, if I want to be done in this life. So I checked out some Quilting services here in town. I respect other peoples work and I understand the price what they are asking.. but wohhhoo it's quite a lot. I don't think it's over priced, but I wonder if it's worth it, just because it's kind of a simple quilt. On the other hand it was work, my work and I don't want to mess it up, by doing the quilting again on my own.
And I want to try out the quilting service and how it will turn out, because I'm planning a queen size quilt for our bedroom and this is gonna be very fancy and I want definetly the quilting done by a professional for this one.
So should I do suck it up and spend the money or not??

Hm. Das hab ich mich auch schon oefters gefragt. In den Quilt Magazinen gibt es oft recht guenstige Angebote. Aber dann muss man es auch hinschicken und man weiss nicht was man erwartet wenn man nichts persoenlich anschauen kann.
Ich hab bisher auch immer mit der normalen Naehmaschine gequiltet. A pain in the butt!!! Diese ist jetzt aber kaputt und die naechste die ich mir kauf ist eine mit Quiltaufsatz so dass man frei hand quilten kann. Und natuerlich will ich eine Verlaengerung von der Arbeitsflaeche der Naehmaschine. (makes sense??lol) So dass man es vielleicht besser bewegen kann.
Aber ich werde auch DEFINITIV einen Quiltservice bezahlen wenn ich mal einen speziellen Quilt fuer uns mache. Das ist es wert!! Denn immerhin steckt man viel Arbeit rein und hat ihn fuer Ewigkeiten.
Ich will heuer noch den Moonglow-Quilt anfangen und den hätte ich schon gern von einem Quiltservice quilten lassen - aber hier in Deutschland bin locker und flockig mit dem Quiltmuster, was ich mir vorstelle zwischen 300 - 400 Euronen los - das ist mir schon zuviel. Bisher hab ich alles selbst gequiltet und aktuell habe ich 2 grosse "Sandwiches" die warten. Aber wenn mal der Sparstrumpf genügend abwirft, dann werde ich bestimmt auch mal eine Quiltservice beauftragen.

naja der Moonglow ist aber auch wirklich ein Meisterstueck und auch um einiges groesser.
Fuer den Americana Quilt muesste ich mit so ca 100 $ rechnen, dann ist allerdings auch schon das Binding gemacht. Ich denke ich machs einfach mal.
den Link kenn ich auch schon, aber irgendwie kann ich mir nicht wirklich vorstellen dass das bei grossen Quilts funktioniert
