Caiden's 2 Year Check up

I know, I know super late.. but oh well, I had other stuff on my mind, plus it always takes them forever to get you in.

Here are the facts

31 lbs "heavy"

36 inches long

14 kg schwer und 92 cm lang.

A robust little Guy, who is really catching up with his speech (finally). He is still delayed compare to other 2 year olds, but he started speaking in two and three word sentences, he expresses feelings and so on. Just today he said: Mama, Kenni Fun (means he told me he had fun at daycare).

He also got his shots (unfortunatly they don't have anything for stubborness or Major-Meltdowns)

His ears are ok, too (I thought there must be something as bad as he listens) so I guess he really grew out of the earinfections.

So we're are all healthy and happy.

Next week is Caleigh's one year check up.. Yes because Caiden was late, I decided to do hers early (or that was the only appointment they had...)

Nachtrag Weihnachtsgeschenke

Hier kommen mal die gesammelten Werke die ich fuer Weihnachten selbst gemacht habe. Allerdings hab ich von ein paar vergessen Bilder zu machen.
Fuer die Kinder einer Freundin hab ich Quillows gemacht. Das sind kleine Decken die eine Kissenplatte auf der Rueckseite haben und die man so falten kann das sie dann ein Kissen sind. Sehr praktisch fuer unterwegs und ganz fix genaeht.

Eine kleine selbstgenaehte Tasche, war ein Panel fuer Giftbags. Ich fand sie ganz suess und der Stoff war 50% reduziert.

Fuer meine Nichte Carly hab ich einen Rucksack genaeht. Sie wollte einen fuer ins Daycare.

Dann hab ich noch Stockings und eine Duffelbag genaeht aber vergessen zu fotografieren. Die Duffelbag naehe ich wahrscheinlich nochmal, die hatte ne schoene Groesse fuers Handgepaeck

Jetzt heisst es ran an den "alten" Speck, ich will UFO's aufarbeiten

Weihnachten ist vorbei...

und war gar nicht so schlimm wie ich befuerchtet habe. Meinen alljaehrlichen Moralischen hatte ich am 23.12, das hat dann gereicht und der Rest der Tage war richtig angenehm. Am 25. haben wir morgens das grosse Paket von Grandma und dem Rest der Familie aufgemacht und wurden alle reich und schoen beschenkt

Caiden hat eine Staffelei bekommen, genau das richtige fuer meinen kleinen Kuenstler. \Danach haben wir das Auto mit Sack und Pack und Hund beladen und sind Richtung Denver zu Claudia und Thomas gefahren. Die beiden haben uns nicht nur eingeladen Weihnachten mit ihnen zu feiern, nein als Weihnachtsgeschenk fuer mich gab es einen Tag "frei". Die Kinder sind mit Claudia, Leon, Marie und Vanessa daheim geblieben und Thomas, Annika und ich sind nach Loveland zum Snowboarden/Skifahren gefahren. Es war zwar ziemlich kalt, aber trotzdem total schoen und es hat total viel Spass gemacht. Am Abend haben wir dann spontan beschlossen noch eine Nacht zu bleiben, nach dem Muskelkater den ich heute habe, war das auch ganz gut so ;-).

Annika hat Caleigh mit Twinkle Twinkle in den Schlaf gesungen.

Die zwei Tage waren wunderschoen und sehr erholsam fuer uns alle. Vielen Dank nochmal an euch, Claudia!!

Nun bin ich wieder daheim und alleine.. aber wird schon, die letze Woche im alten Jahr bekommen wir auch noch rum

Frohe Weihnachten

Wir wuenschen allen ein frohes und gesegnetes Weihnachtsfest. Ich hoffe ihr alle hattet einen schoenen Abend und das Christkind (oder Santa Claus) hat euch schoene Geschenke gebracht.
Er war zumindest besonders nett zu Caiden und Caleigh und hat ihnen eine tolle Kinder-Kueche gebracht.

Und es ist Caiden egal dass sie pink ist, er kocht trotzdem wie ein Weltmeister.

Morgen gibts noch mehr Geschenke, gestern kam noch das Paket von Grandma.

Zum Abendessen waren wir bei Simone und Jay und haben ganz traditionell Wuerstchen mit Kartoffelsalat und Nudelsalat gegessen. Der Abend ist nicht ganz so besinnlich augeklungen, Caiden ist vom Barhocker gefallen. Ich dachte schon, das wir dieses Mal wohl in den ER muessen. Aber gluecklicherweise hat der sich "nur" die Lippe aufgeschlagen.

Morgen fahren wir nach Denver und besuchen meine liebe Freundin Claudia und am Samstag gehen wir Skifahren Yay!

Finally

Nach 10,5 Monaten zahnlosem Dasein hat sie es geschafft. Der erste Zahn ist draussen!! Yeah! Allerdings ist es seltsamerweise der linke obere Schneidezahn..

Sie macht halt alles immer ein bisschen anders, als andere!

I got a deployment calendar from ACS. There is all kind o fun stuff in it, and I thought I actually do some things out of it.

this week there are two things on it.

1. Learn about the deployment location:

The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is a landlocked country in South-Central Asia. It is variously described as being located within Central Asia, South Asia, or the Middle East. It is bordered by Iran in the west, Pakistan in the south and east, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the north, and China in the far northeast.
The geographic entity now known as Afghanistan has a very long history, and has been an ancient focal point of the Silk Road and migration. It is an important geostrategic location, connecting East and West Asia or the Middle East. The land has been a target of various invaders, as well as a source from which local powers invaded neighboring regions to form their own empires. Ahmad Shah Durrani created the Durrani Empire in 1747, which is considered the beginning of modern Afghanistan.[10]
Its capital was shifted later from Kandahar to Kabul and most of its territories ceded to neighboring empires. In the late 19th century, Afghanistan became a buffer state in "The Great Game" played between the British Empire and Russian Empire.[11] On August 19, 1919, following the third Anglo-Afghan war, the country regained independence from the United Kingdom over its foreign affairs.
Since the late 1970s Afghanistan has experienced a continuous state of civil war punctuated by foreign occupations in the forms of the 1979 Soviet invasion and the 2001 U.S.-led invasion that toppled the Taliban government. The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) did not authorize the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom).[12] In late 2001 the United Nations Security Council authorized the creation of an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) composed of NATO troops. The country is being rebuilt by international support, while dealing with a strong insurgency. In November, 2009, UNICEF described Afghanistan as the most dangerous place in the world for a child to be born.[13]

2. Put a dollar in a jar every day. Use it for a mini-vacation after reunion

Well, I'm actually hoping that when Chris comes back we could do a real vacation. Something with fun, Relaxing, Beach, Sund and ocean.. you know what I meant.. I think for that kind of vacation I need to put 10 $ away each day, but we don't have any plans yet, so I go with one dollar a day and if we can go to the beach, it will be some extra money we can spend there, and if the beach is not happening, than we can go to Estes Park or something like that!

So that's it for this week. I like these kind of ideas!

Day 2

do you know that a deployments gets shitty, if your child steps in Dogpoop the very first day and you don't realize it until he was walking all over the house???

MAJOR CLEANING!!!

and no I will not post every day now..

So far we are doing pretty ok. Caiden of course asked for his Daddy last night and this morning, but for now he is good when I tell him: Daddy is at work!

Well, we are used that Chris is gone for a couple weeks quite often, so for now this is not a very big deal for us. I think we just haven't realized that he is actually really gone for so long, hopefully it will stay like that.

Thank you every one of you for all your support, makes me feel really special and most of all really safe, too. One of my biggest issue was, what am I gonna do if something is happening, like I get sick, the car breaks down, the house is on fire (yes I really do think that;-0) but I know I have great friends here who will never let me down. So that's just great! Thank you!!!

Worldwide Candlelighting

Die Idee stammt, wie so viele, aus den USA. Mittlerweile auch bei uns angekommen ist der Brauch, am 2. Sonntag im Dezember um 19 Uhr eine Kerze anzuzünden für die Sternenkinder.Diese Kerze erlischt nach einer Stunde, während in einer anderen Zeitzone neue Kerzen entzündet werden. So entsteht ein "Lichterband", das rund um die Welt läuft.Da ich die Idee sehr schön finde, wird auch hier um 19 Uhr eine Kerze -that their light may always shine.(Text kopiert von Heike)

We really did finish is last minute. We installed the towel holder, mirrors and all that stuff today.

After all the hard work Chris put in that bathroom, I'm so glad he really could finish it before he leaves. I know that was really important for him.

The last couple of weeks were really stressful to all of us and we were not really nice to each other. But yesterday we took a day off, went to the movies and later to my favorite restaurant, the melting pot and stuffed ourselves stupid (I really ate too much, I didn't sleep good at all, my belly hurt so much)

So the bathroom remodeling is over! Thank Goodness!

Die Bilder hab ich gestern gemacht, aber dann war ich zu muede und vollgefressen... also dann heute:
1. Amtshandlung bei Sonnenaufgang: mit dem Hund raus.

Zum Fruehstueck gibts Haferflocken mit Kaba und Milchkaffee. Eigentlich muesste ich putzen, aber Caiden will lieber Lego spielen.Nina faulenzt derweil (eigentlich koennte sie ja putzen)Bei TJMaxx noch ein Schnaeppchen gemacht nur 8 $ hab ich fuer die hier bezahlt:

Carson, die Kinder ins Daycare bringenHier haben wir uns dann New Moon angeschaut:Hier haben wir superlecker gegessen und ich musste mit offener Hose raus ;-)Sogar Bluemchen hab ich an den Tisch bekommen (special Order vom Mann)Die Kinder bei Stephie und Tina abgeholt:Daheim noch das Katzenviech eingesammelt: und letzte Amtshandlung des Tages: mit dem Hund raus..

Na ihr kennt mich doch, das traurig sein steht mir nicht und haelt auch einfach nicht lange an..

Seit gestern bin ich wieder froh und munter... oder so aehnlich. Wir haben gestern gut was geschafft im Bad und gluecklicherweise sehen die Fliesen gut aus. Natuerlich koennte alles ein bisschen huebscher und genauer sein, aber was solls, solange es kein Fachmann ist der ein Auge draufwirft oder jemand genau in jede Ritze schaut.... ich muss heute da oben noch ein bisschen Platz machen, nach der Arbeit kommt Chris mit ein paar Kollegen vorbei und dann wird unser Waschtisch nach oben getragen. Bin ja mal gespannt, hoffe es klappt alles.

Seit zwei Tagen schneit es nun auch und es ist bitterkalt. Gestern abend hatte es Minus 20 Grad. Sobald man auch nur die Nasenspitze friert man. Caiden und ich haben dann gestern mit all seinen Schienen eine Riesen Eisenbahnstrecke gebaut. Das macht richtig Spass und dann lassen wir die Zuege fahren...

Wenn nur Hurricane Caleigh nicht immer waere.. da gibts dann immer Streit und auch Traenen, weil sie doch auch so gerne mitspielen will..Caiden trinkt ja abends noch Milch und da hat er es sich gestern in Caleighs Bouncer bequem gemacht.. bin ja mal gespannt wann das Teil unter seinem Hintern zusammenbricht.. das ist ja eigentlich nur fuer Babies gemacht.Am Samstag sind die beiden uebrigens im Deployment Childcare und mir ist es schnurz wie es im Bad aussieht, ich will mit meinem Mann ins Kino!!! Drueck mir die Daumen das es klappt

a not so good weekend

ok usually I'm a pretty positive and happy person, I don't whine about a lot of things and most of the times if I'm complaining about something and doesn't last very long. But this weekend was just a little bit too much.

1. my husband is leaving for Afg. here pretty soon, actually we are in single digits now, which is upsetting just to have that

2. both kids a teething and had diarrhia, Caleigh especially, the poor thing had about 10-15 poopy diapers a day now, for four days. Her poop also is really acidy.. you get the picture how horrobile her little butt looks. I tried everything, but it's still pretty bad. She screams so painful when I change her it almost makes me cry too. Caiden had a little diaper rash but his was not as bad as Caleigh's.

3. our bathroom-project, we were already behind and short on time on friday. Than Chris decided to put the grout on the tiles in one piece, so he would be done with that. Bad bad choice. He was done at arround midnight, on Friday and went to bed without wiping the Grout off the tiles. On Saturday we discovered that the grout was hard as a rock and I spent four hours trying to scrub that sh*** off. I got a lot of it off. But that stuff is still sticking in every little tiny hole that the tiles have. It's like a nightmare. Chris and I spent all weekend do scrub off grout. With scrubs, brushes, harsh chemicals, knives.. you name it. My hands and arms are so sore and I have blisters all over my hands. I can't even imagine how Chris is feeling, he did double as much as I did. So far we got the tiles on the walls cleaned up, the whole floor to go. Chris had to go back to work and I just don't see it right now how we gonna finish that before he leaves...

This was supposed to be one of the last weekends we could spent together and I didn't really planned on scrubbing grout unt 1 o'clock in the morning.

Due to all that you can imagine how my mood is. First I was so pissed off, than desperate and now I'm just numb and not able to think at all.

I'm trying to have the kids in daycare for a day this week and hopefully on Saturday. I don't think Chris and I are able to go out, like we planned.. but at least we will get the damn bathroom done!

Sorry for the whining, I promise it will not get a habit

Sled-Ride

This morning we woke up and finally got some snow, it was ice cold (20 and below F or minus 12 Grad) but no snow. But today for Nikolaus-Day here it was. I took Nina and Caiden out for a sled-Ride.

We had a lot of fun. I tried to make Nina pulling us on the sled, but I guess she is not a Husky and wouldn't walk with the weight on her. So we went down the little hill in front of our house a couple times and then I pulled Caiden arround the streets. He sat really still and just enjoyed the ride.

And this is how my son's hair looks EVERY single morning before I brush it. Very thankful for detangling spray. Looks a little bit like a Kate Gosselin hairstyle, does it??

Stockings and Soft baskets

Na so sieht das schon besser aus!! Oder wie Caiden so schoen abzaehlt: Dada, Mama, Kenni, Keli
Caleigh hat den Nicolaus bekommen. Ansonsten geht es bei uns wie immer hektisch zu. Ich hab irgendwie das Gefuehl zu nichts zu kommen.. aber das gehoert wohl auch zur Vorweihnachtszeit dazu.

Heute hab ich dann aber neben den Stocking noch ein anderes kleines Projekt fertig gemacht. Diesen suessen Softbasket. Geht ganz einfach, allerdings waere es schoen wenn er noch etwas groesser waere.

Dieser hier wird in Caleigh's Zimmer kommen und ein paar ihrer Buecher beherbergen.
